RINO fluorescent ceiling lights for the maritime sector
The Audacia motor vessel, christened during a festive ceremony at the Stazione Marittima in Genoa, is a latest-generation ferry cruise. A sort of ‘cruise ferry’.
Featuring state-of-the-art facilities, it is the second of eight ‘cruise ferries’ ordered by Grimaldi Holding from Nuovi Cantieri Apuania for a total investment of around €500 million.
The motor vessel AUDACIA boasts a gross tonnage of 23,000 tonnes, a length of 200 metres, a width of 27 metres, a bridge height of 28 metres, a cruising speed of 24.5 knots; 7 decks, including 4 garages with independent entrances, an open deck for camping on board and a capacity for 500 passengers.
The challenges of the lighting system relate to:
- the presence of salt spray;
- humidity;
- vibrations;
- impacts;
- intense solar radiation;
- fuel.
The garages and communal areas are considered high-risk areas in the event of a fire due to the presence of crowds and fuel in the vehicles’ tanks.
Palazzoli has specified the use of the RINO series with a white-painted AISI 316L stainless steel body and a transparent polycarbonate diffuser. AISI 316L stainless steel ensures the material remains non-deformable and the luminaires remain rust-free over time, whilst the polycarbonate diffuser is shatterproof, non-yellowing and UV-stabilised.
All RINO ceiling lights feature a pre-fitted anti-vibration system and are certified. The IP66/IP67 protection rating guarantees protection against heavy waves and temporary submersion.
